The concert will culminate the orchestra's seventh summer residency, which runs from 13 to 21 July in Pesaro - the latter Italian Capital of Culture 2024 - hosted by Liberamusica. The event is a meeting point for more than 150 young musicians aged between 8 and 20, and for their teachers from different parts of the continent.

In their countries of origin, they are part of local initiatives inspired by "El Sistema", a learning programme that focuses on generating equal opportunities for children and young people through music. This idea was created in Venezuela almost 50 years ago by Maestro José Antonio Abreu and since then has contributed to improving thousands of lives in more than 70 countries.

During their stay, the young members of SEYO will enjoy rehearsals conducted by leading professionals in the sector and will commit to promote sustainability and love for our planet through the orchestral experience.

Furthermore, on 18 July at 20 - after an immersive walk tour of the breathtaking woods surrounding the city - our wonderful coaches and musicians will gather in Palazzo Ducale (Urbino) for Concerto per Alberi. An immersive performance filled with the essence of sylvan creatures, silent inhabitants with thick, green hair and rough and ancient arms.

STATEMENTS

“It is really gratifying to see SEYO, each time that it moves across the continent from one Sistema Europe country to another, build on the successes of the past whilst also bringing new life to the future. SEYO 2024, Song for the Earth, conceived and organised by LiberaMusica together with Sistema Europe, takes place in the dazzling Italian cities of Urbino and Pesaro, the latter Italian Capital of Culture 2024. With a focus on sustainability and the environment inherited from SEYO 2022 in Madrid but developed and made new through the theme of the voices of young people, SEYO 2024 looks set to be another classic gathering of pan-European ensemble music making of the highest order, infused with a spirit of joy, passion and commitment. Amongst the project's many patrons and benefactors, we particularly thank the Hilti Foundation for their constant support of SEYO across many editions. Along with the brilliant young musicians, we treasure partnerships with great teachers and artists, from Joyce DiDonato’s Eden Project to conductors of the rank of Roberto Abbado, and welcome further SEYO conducting debuts from Kiriaki Kountouri and Charlotte Politi. Pesaro 2024, Song for the Earth: not to be missed.”
MARSHALL MARCUS  President and Founder of Sistema Europe

“We are delighted to have the 7th edition of the Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra held in Pesaro and Urbino, hosted by LiberaMusica. It's an honour to welcome around 150 young musicians from over 15 countries, embarking on a wonderful journey of musical discovery and cultural exchange. SEYO started in Vienna eleven years ago and has since visited Istanbul, Milan, Athens, Birmingham, and Madrid. This year, its vision of Pan-European unity and collaborative music-making will be brought to life in Pesaro and Urbino. I’m super excited and eagerly look forward to the start of this residency!”
ETIENNE ABELIN
Co-Founder of the Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra

“At SEYO 2024, we will have the great opportunity to put together an orchestra of more than 150 students, coming from diverse backgrounds and at different stages of their musical development, from over 23 different music education programs across 18 countries around Europe. Different languages, different cultures and different ways of experiencing the world will come together with the sole purpose of becoming a team and speaking through music the message they want to convey for a better future.
SEYO 2024 is not just a concert; it is a celebration of unity, diversity, and the transformative power of music.”
JOSÉ ANGEL SALAZAR MARIN
 Co-Artistic DIrector SEYO 2024

“Sometimes dreams come true and for us at LIberaMusica having the honour of hosting and organising the 2024 edition of the Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra represents this, the realisation of a dream. Music can help us to transform the society in which we live and to fight against the terrible things that are happening today.
Nothing is more important than have 200 young people from all over the world on a big stage who want to work together for this change. Nothing is more meaningful than dedicating
our time and attention to them, to nature and to music.”
