The Harmonie Foundation is celebrating important milestones in the Czech Republic, marked by new institutional support for its work and two prestigious recognitions of its founder’s role in music education.
The organisation has received financial support from the City of Prague for its Harmonie Orchestra programme in one of the city’s schools, reaffirming the value of its commitment to providing high-quality training opportunities for children.
At the same time, the Harmonie Foundation’s founder and project executive, Milada Cholujova, has received two distinguished honours for her outstanding contribution to children’s music education. She has been awarded the annual prize of the Czech Music Council in recognition of her role in introducing the first El Sistema-inspired programme in the Czech Republic, and last but not least has also received the prestigious Jaroslav Herden Honorary Award at the Faculty of Education of Jan Evangelista PurkynÄ› University in Ústí nad Labem.
Presented under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, this exceptional award is granted by the Czech Society for Music Education, a professional non-profit association founded in 1934, unifying music educators across all school levels.
These recognitions are a well-deserved tribute to Milada Cholujova’s dedication and leadership, while also reflecting the positive and lasting impact of the Harmonie Foundation’s work.
As the Harmonie Foundation continues to grow, both Milada’s individual commitment and the Foundation’s institutional achievements will undoubtedly continue to inspire many members of Sistema Europe in their shared mission to expand access to high-quality music education for children and young people.
Congratulations to Milada and the entire Harmonie Foundation team on these well-deserved achievements!
