Música por el Cambio is a non-profit association founded in 2024 in the district of Latina, in Madrid. The organization uses music as a tool for social transformation, offering children and young people opportunities for personal development, collective learning, and cultural participation.
Out work is inspired by the educational vision promoted by José Antonio Abreu, which understands collective musical practice as a way to strengthen individuals and build community through shared artistic work.
The foundation of our project is continuous musical training through orchestral practice, conceived as a stable educational process in which participants become part of an orchestra and grow within it. In this model, the orchestra functions as a community of learning and community-building, where each participant plays an active role. Through collective work, children and young people develop musical skills together with fundamental values such as cooperation, discipline, shared responsibility, listening, and self-confidence.
We carry out our activities in collaboration with public schools in the Latina district, the district’s Social Services, and other social organizations in the area, building a local network that helps provide access to music education for children and young people who, in many cases, have fewer opportunities to participate in these kinds of cultural experiences.
Through the orchestra, we aim to create a space of belonging, learning, and growth, where each participant can discover their potential and feel like an active part of their community.
