The House of Good Tones' young musicians play together with children from Croatia & Serbia at a concert in Zagreb

The House Of Good Tones is a a multi-ethnic musical project of reconciliation which aims to improve the coexistence of children in and around Srebrenica and to allow them to experience the importance and beauty of music.

Founded in 2012 with the support of Bauern helfen Bauern (Farmers help Farmers), the House of Good Tones brings together local ethnicities and provides more than 400 children of all backgrounds with music tuition.

Working in a friendly and encouraging environment with children between the ages of two and 17 from Srebrenica, Bratunac, Potočari and Skelani, the House of Good Tones’ teachers help children to gain self-esteem, respect for others, self-discipline and a sense of responsibility.

Under the direction of Ismar Porić, the programme especially looks to develop its children’s creativity and to expand their cultural horizons. Having initially started off with exclusively instrumental tuition, the programme has now formed both a choir and a dance group and also looks to promote life skills beyond music, with, for example, the provision of German classes.

The House of Good Tones also strives to build bridges on a regional level and works regularly with colleagues abroad. A former member of Superar and a current member of Sistema Europe, the House of Good Tones put on concerts in Croatia, Germany and Slovenia in 2018-2019 and works together with fellow Sistema Europe members SO-DO El Sistema Croatia and Music Art Project – El Sistema Serbia to build a new spirit of solidarity in the Balkans.
